New budget in Lawrence eliminates 13 positions
The freshly crafted budget eliminates 13 positions funded by the township, reducing the entire payroll from 195 to 182 full time staff, municipal manager Richard Krawczun said. Positions to be cut from the budget include three of the township’s uniformed police officers, several of whom spoke in protest at last night’s meeting.
Questioned by cops, Trenton man denies he shot at officers
Jermel Carter, 29, said police took him into custody Wednesday and interrogated him for nine hours before finally releasing him that evening. He said they raided his grandmother’s home on the 400 block of Stuyvesant the night before, but he was not there.
